I want to start this letter with a story about one of my clients, and her rapid transformation.
This client of mine was dealing with some intense fears.
Fear around money.
Fear around trusting herself.
Fear around tapping into her spiritual nature.
She regularly avoided self-care and self-reflection because she always ended up cycling through the same fearful narrative over and over. Sadly, it was stopping her from being present in her day to day life, in her artistic work, and in her personal relationships.
In June of 2019, we started excavating some of the stories that had been passed down to her through her ancestral lineages.
One major theme stood out:
Women are not to be trusted.
Not trusted with money.
With decision making.
With anything.
And as we uncovered this wound she had inherited from her ancestors and living family, she was able to see places where lack of trust was playing out in her life.
Over the course of three months, we explored and unpacked this idea.
We fact-checked what was true and what was conditioning.
We dismantled the pieces that didn’t serve her and wrote a new story.
This process helped her to tune in to herself and trust she was capable of making big decisions, managing her money, and being accountable in her personal relationships.
And from the work we did together, she found it within herself to have compassion for those in her lineage who had perpetuated the stories that had kept her small.
The result?
Her shift in perspective brought her more joy, more clarity, and a deeper sense of purpose.
You see, the wounds, stories, and limiting beliefs we carry in our ancestral body inform the way we show up in our work.
And if we’re going to use our businesses to make a tangible impact in our communities, we also have to do our part to heal from the generational wounds that prevent us from accessing our power.
As you begin to understand where those stories come from, unpack them with curiosity, and forgive the harm they’ve caused in your life, you can step more fully into your power, and embody the change-makers you were born to be.
Ancestral healing is an essential piece in the process that allows you to use your voice, to share your truth, and to take action in your business.
You might be wondering where to begin?
Well, before I offer you any guidance, I need to remind you:
Your ancestors are all around you.
They are your closest connection to the spirit realm, and their energy is alive in your very body.
Most importantly, you can connect with them whenever you feel the need.
Now that we have set the stage for the importance of ancestral healing, let’s dive into some guidance…
Here are three questions to ask yourself as you begin your ancestral healing journey.
1. Where do your people come from and what pieces of their culture do you still celebrate?
2. What stories has your lineage passed down and how are those stories impacting the way you relate to the world?
3. How do you feel when you tune in with the spirits of your ancestors?
I invite you to sit quietly with these questions for a while. Perhaps pull out your journal, and spend some time writing to see what comes forward.
Hopefully, with this practice you’ll find that when you align with and open yourself up to the guidance from your well-ancestors, you’re able to release imposter syndrome, recognize your full potential, and step into a space of empowered leadership.
After spending some time reflecting, and if you feel called, please share your feelings, thoughts, and awakenings in the comments. I read + respond to every comment I receive.
