“Practice listening to your intuition, your inner voice; ask questions; be curious; see what you see, hear what you hear, then act upon what you know to be true. These intuitive powers were given to you at birth.”
-Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women who Run with the Wolves
Your intuition is an inborn gift that allows you to see, hear, and feel what lies beneath the surface.
It’s a tool for discerning how to navigate this chaotic and complex world.
And this quote from Clarissa Pinkola Estés, reminds us that working with it requires practice.
But often life moves fast and our intuitive practice takes a back-seat.
The current system keeps us so busy and focused on hyper productivity, that it can be hard to make time to practice listening to our intuition.
And it becomes incredibly tempting to look for shortcuts and tools that fast track the activation of our intuitive gifts.
So we buy the crystals, attend the breathwork classes, repeat the affirmations, manifest with the full moon, and read all the books.
But something still feels off.
At least it did for me.
The New Age Culture was leaving me unfulfilled and eternally seeking the next thing that would “raise my vibe”
I could feel the disconnect between the spiritual lineages I was working with, and the future I was working towards.
So, about a year and a half ago, I made the conscious decision to take a step back from most of the New Age rituals and tools I had been working with for nearly a decade.
Instead of investing my energy in the New Age, I began studying my ancestry and focused on building a business that served larger movements for justice.
After some reflection, it felt like I had to let go of spirituality as I knew it.
Because the New Age spirituality I’d been practicing, was actually just a tool for complacency and bypassing.
And it wasn’t serving me or the work I was committed to in this world.
But this last week, as we moved into the energy of the Full Moon Eclipse in Capricorn, I felt a shift.
My intuition spoke to me with such clarity, I couldn’t ignore it.
The voice inside said:
“You’ve paused your practice long enough. You’ve explored spirituality without all the sparkly fancy tools. And now you know what matters.”
And as soon as I heard those words from within, I realized I hadn’t given up on spirituality…
I had been in a process of refining my ability to see, hear, and know…
I had been simply learning to listen…
Without all the fancy bells + whistles that the New Age community had touted as essential.
I remembered that intuition came from within my body… not from anything that could be bought.
I realized that capitalism had infiltrated my spirituality and my intuitive gifts…
and capitalism is what I was resisting.
Now that I’ve slowed down and examined where I was out of integrity in my spiritual practice, I’m ready to bring the more mystical and intuitive aspects of myself back into my business.
Because it’s who I am.
And it’s who I’ve always been.
I am a deeply mystic + psychic person.
And I also happen to have a super practical business mind.
This week has been a reminder that I get to embody all aspects of myself in my work. (And so do you!)
And just in case you were unsure of who I stand for (and with) in my work, let me break it down for you…
