“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”
-Arundhati Roy
When I first got into coaching, I dreamed of working with future leaders and culture builders, because I believed in a different kind of world.
I imagined radically transforming the way my clients think about their power and their purpose. I hoped to inspire them to go out in the world and do the damn thing they had been dreaming about.
But I was playing by old paradigm rules.
It took me a while to realize that subscribing to capitalist conditioning was preventing me from making the big impact I knew I was here to create.
So I started unlearning and deprogramming.
And the biggest lesson I had to unlearn was around so-called independence.
I say ‘so-called independence’, because I don’t think that independence actually exists. All of us rely on resources and our community for success.
Awakening to this truth, and acknowledging my own interdependent nature was the most pivotal shift I’ve made in more than 5 years as a coach and business owner.
I started to focus on connecting with aligned mentors and colleagues, and I got super clear on WHO I was here to serve, and used my energy to deliver value to those people.
And pretty quickly I started to feel the change.
I didn’t feel isolated anymore, I was finally calling in seriously dreamy clients that I was really excited to work with, and I didn’t feel so damn burnt out.
Before this shift, I could sense that a different world was possible, but I could not, for the life of me, see how we would get there.
Now, I know that we can usher in a new world by centering the needs of the people instead of corporate greed.
I know that we can overcome capitalist conditioning by cultivating radical communities that prioritizes justice and liberation.
And it’s through those radical communities that we will bring another world into being.
The truth is, Capitalism won’t be there for you when you’re burnt out, but your community will be.
This is why I am so passionate about helping coaches, healers and creatives build communities around their vision.
Because when we are supported by folks who value and cherish our work, our power is amplified and it’s so much easier to show up for culture building work.
Cultivating and nurturing a community takes time and energy, but that investment is worth it, because that community will pour back into you.
And it’s in community where I can feel another world blossoming and breathing around me.
If you are reading this email, I consider you a part of my community and I am so grateful to be building with you.
I’m curious to know who you are building with? Who are the folks that you know you can count on to support you as you play your part in birthing another world?
Feel free to reply to this email and share a bit about the community you are building and/or the one you’re dreaming of.
